Entry table with glassware. I was given to understand that, had we requested that a bottle of champagne greet us, there would be a wine chiller on a stand beside this table, with a couple of rose petals in the bottom of each champagne flute.
Pocket door entry to the bath. Entry table is now to the right. I love pocket doors! When I build my dream home from scratch, I will have pocket doors everywhere! I think it is especially lovely for small rooms, as you don't have to worry about whether the door should swing in or swing out or if having the door left open will block access to anything.
The soaking tub. The frosted glass in the background on the right separates the tub from the HUGE travertine shower. I think the froth of bubbles etched onto the glass is funny. If the blinds behind the tub on the left were open, you would see the bed! I spent a long time in this tub. They had thoughtfully provided scented bath salts. If you like baths, I strongly recommend Dresdner Essenz brand Lavender Herbal Bath. It tints the water a Caribbean blue and smells WONDERFUL.
This is the mixer valve for the shower. I'd never seen one of these before! I felt like Ma Kettle come to the big city. "Look, Pa! They gots 'lectric baths!" The little square button turns the shower on and off. The up and down arrow buttons control the temperature of the water. "This shower is useless. I must have my water at precisely 99.5 degrees Farenheit or my day is ruined!"
Continuing down the finely-decorated hall. You can't see the walk-in closet on the left, but it's there. When you open the door, a light inside comes on. Nice touch.
The living room. I had jumped in the tub first thing, so that's my towel draped unbecomingly over the back of a chair in the foreground. Kinda washes out the photo. Oh well. Flip a switch and the gas fireplace jumps to life. There is an excellent audio/video system hidden behind the cupboard doors above the fireplace with an IR relay so you can use the stereo remote without having to leave the doors open. The long sage drapes on the right hide the sliding door to the deck that overlooks the garden
The comfy bed. Snuggling into the soft cotton sheets and the down comforter, I felt like royalty. Alas, we were in the middle of getting changed into nice clothes for dinner and had already begun flinging garments around. There's my towel again. And through those blinds is the tub. It's not a window with glass and all... just an opening with blinds to open or leave down as you see fit. You can't see him, but Scot is standing pantsless to the right, ironing his trousers. I promised I would leave him out of the photos, but I didn't promise not to tell you he was there!
I had a LOVELY time there and in fact we slept in a bit too late the next morning and had to scramble to get out of the room shortly after checkout at noon.
Five years sure has flown by, with five more just around the corner. And eternity just after that.
